Data Collection

ConvertIt does not collect, store, or transmit personal information. Unit, currency, and media conversions happen directly on your Mac. There is no account to create, no sign-in, and no data sent to ConvertIt's developer.

Currency Exchange Rates

To provide currency conversion, ConvertIt fetches exchange rate data from the Frankfurter API, which publishes European Central Bank reference rates. These requests do not include any personal identifiers, account information, or device identifiers, just a request for current rates.

Rates are cached on your device for 24 hours, so ConvertIt only needs to reach Frankfurter periodically, and currency conversion continues to work offline using the most recent cached rates.

Media & Conversion Processing

All unit and currency conversions, along with image, video, and audio conversions in the Media tab, are processed locally using Apple's AVFoundation framework and a bundled FFmpeg binary. Your files are never uploaded to any server.

Local Storage & Preferences

ConvertIt stores your preferences, such as your chosen hotkey, default conversion category, recent and pinned conversions, and output folder, locally on your device using macOS's standard UserDefaults system. This information never leaves your device and is not accessible to ConvertIt's developer.

Analytics & Tracking

The ConvertIt app. ConvertIt does not include analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs. There is no tracking of how you use the app.

This website. convertitapp.com uses Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly service that does not use cookies and does not collect personal information. It records aggregate page views and when visitors use app download links (for example, which version was requested). This helps measure interest in ConvertIt; it does not identify you individually.

Third-Party Links

This website and ConvertIt's About panel contain links to third-party sites, including FFmpeg and Frankfurter. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which this policy does not cover. See ConvertIt's Terms of Use for more on third-party components.

Children's Privacy

ConvertIt is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, regardless of age, because it does not collect personal information at all.

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised to reflect the new version.
